comparing first and last speeches

I thought that I improved throughout all of the speeches. I look up a lot more than I used to except I still occassionally read my note card. I look a lot more confident in my later speech than I did the first one, I don't seem as nervous. My voice is a lot clearer and understandable. My hand gestures also improved along with my enthusiasm. Overall I would say this class has helped my in my public speaking skills very much.

demonstrative speech

My speech was better than ones that I have done before. My voice was clear and loud throughout the whole speech, which is something I have struggled with in the past. I actually sounded confident in what I was talking about this time which helped. In my last speech Iwas not as sure about my information. I was less nervous during this speech which shows that my confidence during dpeeches is improving. I showed a little more enthusiasm and emotion in this speech than i have in previous ones.
One thing I still need to work on is mantaining eye contact throughout the whole speech and looking around at everyone in the class. I need to work on not looking down as much and always keep my eyes up. A little more enthusiasm would be good for my future speeches as well. All in all this speech was alot better than my previous ones, but I still have alot of room for improvement.

My First Speech

I think my speech was decent. I need to look up a little more next time. I probably shouldn't do as much stuff with my hands though because that is kind of distracting. Other than that I think I did well, I tried to make things a little funny to keep the class entertained. I felt pretty nervous when I got up there but I felt more comfortable as the speech went on. There is definatly room for improvements with my speeches, but for my first time I don't think it was too bad.

Because she has an angry look that seems like she could hurt someone, she is very intimadating and seems like she would make a good shrew.

Brad Pitt as Petruchio

Because he has a certain swagger about him that he seems more mischevious than he looks, Pitt seems to fit Petruchio well.

Matt Damon as Lucentio
Because he is good looking and looks very smart, Matt Damon looks like the perfect guy and that is what I see Lutencio as.

George Clooney as Baptista

Because he is an older actor and seems like a man that is powerful.

Jennifer Aniston as Bianca

Because she is beautiful and any man would want to woo her just

by apperance.

Tom Cruise as Tranio

Because he is more outgoing and seems more lively, Tranio in the play is the character that wants to have fun so this fits him well.

Slapstick: Physical humor, very exagerated.

Theres a lot of physical humor in this movie, Ace Ventura, because Jim Carrey does a lot of slapstick. By physical humor i mean alot of punching and hitting and it is all just overly exagerated and absured. An example of slapstick comedy that does not involve physical humor is the classic skit, "Whose on First?" this skit is probably one of the most famous comedic skits there are, it is so exagerated and absured but many people consider it very funny. The cartoon show, Family Guy, is a perfect example of slapstick because there is a large amount of exagerated violence in the show.

Irony: Contrary to what is expected. An example would be a "fire station on fire".

How the Grinch Stole Christmas – is an example of irony because the Grinch plans on ruining Christmas for everyone, but he ends up saving Christmas for all of the Whos.

Pun: Using a word that has a different meaning but similair sound. An example, "My boyfriend and I started to date after he backed his car into mine. We met by accident." the word "accident" is used but it is supposed to have two different meanings.

The fish missed the call because he was stuck on the other line.

this is another example because the word LINE is used to mean both a fishing line and a phone line.

Comedy: Using humor for entertainment. Comedy Central is a channel with only comedy on it made for entertainment.

Stand up is a form of comedy. Typically a stand up comedian will just preform in front of a live croud with pre planned jokes. Personally I am a fan of Stand up comedy.

Gabriel Iglesias is my favorite Stand up comedian.
